Task 2 -

Well,
The idea of using a blog as a tool in my English Class isn’t something I haven’t thought about before, these last couple months I even made small attempts to sketch the idea I’m presenting my students next year. The only problem was that I only knew the basics, how to create a blog, post on it and pretty much that was it. So, you can imagine how this “formação” is going to help me. My idea for the blog is using it as a record of activities, projects, essays, photos, videos of all my English class students next year, thus they will have the opportunity to have a digital and online “Year Book”. I have decided I would divide the year in its semesters, so I can better plan the activities and projects I’m proposing to them, but in the end I know that many ideas will come to me as I go... and I will welcome any from my students. This year, I found out that they have an artistic and creative side that I plan to use and abuse.
As for the question of allowing them to each have a blog, I don’t think that will be possible, many of them are risk taking, curious and hard-working boys and girls, but others are serious slackers and will prefer if I do all the work. It will be better if I let them work in the same blog, with me calling all the shots.
I believe my idea is adventuring myself beyond blogging, I really appreciate new ways of showing my students that English is really an amazing journey, not just a subject with a weird teacher (yeap, that’s what they call me, in a good way, I hope!?).
As for your last questions, I think I need to think really well about them. Of course the activities and projects that I will ask then to do, will have to be graded, but some, I believe, haven’t got the evaluation purpose only. I’m hoping it will be a way of tricking them to broaden their digital and technological horizons, for something more than Facebook, Youtube, and similar ones. Don’t get me wrong, I love those places, but if I can make them “learn, without knowing they are learning”, that will definitely make my day!
